Abstract

After 5th campaign of the KSTAR, the interlock functions of the Motor Generator System, the Seismic Detection System, the Machine Sound Listening System and the Lithium Beam Injection System was integrated and coded in the Interlock System of the KSTAR [1]. The fast interlock functions to protect for the PMS (Plasma Facing Component (PFC) Monitoring System) and heating devices was built in CCS (Central Control System) and PCS (Plasma Control System) before the plasma experiments. On the 6th campaign, interlock system carried out the mission of the interlocking without significant abnormalities generally. The events were recorded and analyzed to the impact and the result at the standpoint of the interlock on the 6th campaign. This post presents the

  • peration results and the definitions of the interlock and the fast interlock functions. The

figure shows the configuration of the current status of Interlock System. References: Jaesic Hong et al, “The Operation Result of Supervisory Interlock System for the KSTAR 1st Campaign”, Fusion Engineering and Design 85 (2010) 500–504

Conclusions

In 2013, the control and the alarm monitoring of the seismic sensing system, events monitoring of the Motor Generator and the infra of the fast and machine interlock for Lithium Beam have been implemented in the interlock system. In the case of earthquake detection system, the monitoring and the control function to remote control, have checked the signal of the system, have completed the commissioning test. If the shot disrupted from the plasma current higher than 500kA then the seismic monitoring system had measured the 50 GAL(magnitude 4) alarm event. For Motor Generator, programed the interlock program for the monitoring, signals checked, but did not perform the commissioning test. The sound listening system was possible to monitor the noise of machines in main experimental hall. Managing major interlock logic of the fast interlock system is carried out in CCS, but a system for transmitting the interlock and reinforcing the protecting algorism between CCS and heating devices it is fast interlock interface module. After performance test of this module in 2012, it needs to improve the protection logic. The one is reinforcing the protection logic of this module when PCS failed an operation and plasma discharging failed a startup. The function assured by testing with testing equipment before the

  • campaign. Lastly the function confirmed by the plasma discharging experiment with low plasma current.

The other is complementing the temperature interlock logic of IVCC and PFC. The function approved and implemented in CCS with new plasma control scheme in PCS. The 6th campaign is interrupted because of the FDS combustion accident. The cooperative functions of the SIS are properly operating after the accident while supplied the uninterruptable electric power. But 6 sub-interlock panels were interrupted and stopped with local I&Cs by the effect of this incident. The 7 cubicles polluted by fire ash and soot, but there was no damage to the equipment, and after washing, recovered to a normal operation state. Without significant changing compared to the current configuration in 2014, it is expected to several events adds, in particular, the one is interlocking with the central fire monitoring system , the other is upgrading of sound listening system.
