Middle Years Program (MYP) Framework
- MYP is a framework, not a curriculum, and thus it can be overlayed ANY subject/course
- Emphasizes IB Learner Profile: principled, communicator, knowledge, thinkers,
reflective, risk takers, caring, inquirers, balanced, and open-minded; gives all students a global perspective
- Student-centered learning (inquiry-based; self-motivated) puts the learner in the
driver’s seat to direct their own understanding of important topics
- Standards-based grading using skills rubrics (MYP criteria) not points for completion of
work (gives more accurate sense of student progress)
- Flipped classroom & project-based learning (less busy work and direct instruction
during class)
- Prepares students for more rigorous and challenging coursework in their 11th and 12th
grade years (pathways, IB DP or IB CP)
