  2. General Information • Elimination of a weight limit on the 510 Bridge over the Dead River increased truck traffic throughout this corridor • CR 510 intersection with CR 502 (Midway Drive) was reconfigured to a “T” intersection for safety improvements along with rehabilitation and widening of the pavement of CR 510 to Hardwood Lane to tie into the rest of the upgraded CR 510 • The proposed CR 510 extension would tie the existing CR 510 directly into US 41 while providing safer access to US 41

  3. Benefits of the Project • Reduce truck traffic on CR 502 (Midway Drive) east of CR 510 • Provide safer access to US 41 corridor (Cul-de-Sac on east end of CR 502 (Midway Drive)) • Provide a safer corridor on CR 510 and CR 502 (Midway Drive) for all road users.

  4. Right-of-Way • A minimum of 80 Feet of Right-of-Way will be needed to construct the proposed extension of CR 510 to US 41 to provide a similar road cross section as the rest of CR 510 • Negaunee Township and MCRC will be working together to obtain the required Right-of-Way

Projected Costs • Engineer’s Estimate was approximately $500,000 • MCRC is currently pursuing funding options for construction • Category F Grant (All Season Truck Routes) from Transportation Economic Development Fund • Max grant amount of $375,000 with at least 20% Local Match • $125,000 of MCRC funds to meet Local Match (25%) • Same grant that funded the construction of CR 510 from Hardwood Lane to CR 502 (Midway Drive)
