KETmaritime - transfer of key enabling technologies (KETs) to the maritime sector

  • An interregional Atlantic Area project for strengthening transfer of innovation results
  • A cooperative network of public and private organizations with scientific as well as industrial

background

  • Exchange experience in R&D, technology transfer and maritime activities
  • Increase knowledge, identify and exchange good practices and sustainable solutions based on

KETs

  • Facilitating emergence of new products, services and processes in the sector
  • Fully capitalizing on KETs, leading to more competitive, resilient, efficient and sustainable maritime

industries

KETmaritime – KETs (Key Enabling Technologies)

  • Include micro and nanoelectronics, nanotechnology, industrial biotechnology, advanced materials,

photonics, and advanced manufacturing technologies

  • A priority for European industrial policy, potential to impact many aspects of the society
  • The global market for KETs was estimated to be more than EUR 1 trillion by 2015
  • KETs deployment will contribute to achieving reindustrialisation,
  • Provide the basis for transformation of the rather traditional maritime sector (especially SMEs) into a

high value one, embracing novel market opportunities developed in a sustainable manner
