Coaching Certifications  Volunteer Form (every season)  AYSO Safe Haven on aysou.org  CDC Concussion Awareness Training on aysou.org  Division specific certification: • 6U: Offered in-person (2 hrs.) or on-line (30-45 min.) at aysou.org • 8U: Offered in-person (2 hrs.) or on-line (30-45 min.) at aysou.org • 10U: Offered in-person (3 hrs.) or On-line Portion (45-60 min.) at aysou.org AND Field Portion (60 min.) • 12U: Offered in-person ONLY (5 hrs.) • Intermediate (14U): Offered in-person ONLY • Advanced (16U/19U): Offered in-person ONLY You must register for any/all courses on aysou.org Carry your certifications in your Coach’s folder. 2

Region 136 Coach Courses • When: 2/29/20 • Where: Platt College & Ralph Lewis Soccer Park • What: – U12 Classroom 8:00am to 11:00am @ Platt College. – 12U & 10U Field Portion 12:00pm to 3:00pm @ Ralph Lewis Soccer Park. (Lunch Provided) – U6 & U8 Practice Drills 12:00pm to 2:00pm – Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for athletic activity, bring soccer ball and water. 3

Team Meeting • Sign player registration forms • Share practice/game day, time, and field information • Advise what is needed for practices/games  Be on time  No jewelry  Trimmed nails  Right size ball  Shin guards  Water  Complete uniform or practice attire • Assign volunteer roles • Hand out Uniforms • Share dates for Goalie & Fury Clinics • If a player doesn’t respond to text, call or e -mail please let Mike 4 or Armando know.

  6. Uniforms Each uniform package will have a range of sizes, with the smallest size starting at jersey number 2. The largest size uniform will also be the highest jersey number. Option 1: All players present 1. Arrange all players in order from smallest to biggest 2. Assign uniforms in order starting with no. 2 for the smallest player, continuing up in order until all are issued. Option 2: Some players not present 1. Review player registration forms for missing players 2. Arrange all players in order, as above, reserving spots in between players where the missing children best fit based on the information from the player registration form 3. Assign uniforms as stated * Sometimes you will have a child average in height but will require the largest uniform. 6

  9. Practices Mon/Wed OR Tue/Thu Ralph M. Lewis Sports Complex  6U – 12U maximum 1-hour practices, twice weekly  14U-19U maximum 1.5 hour practices, twice weekly  No jewelry  Shin Guards are mandatory  Appropriate footwear  No non-registered players  No scrimmaging with other age divisions 9

  10. Practices • Be on time • Plan ahead • Make it fun • On-line resources • Safety • Not a daycare • A parent must stay with their child • Practice Starts 3/2/20 • 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U = 1 hour 10 • 14U, 16U = 1 ½ hours

  11. Games  Arrive at least 30 minutes before start time to check in team and warm up players a. Assemble team and report to check in tents b. Provide Admin staff with proof of signed player registration forms and completed game card c. Obtain approval stamp from Admin staff d. Report to game field, provide stamped game card to referee  Referee will check players to ensure:  No jewelry  Complete uniform as issued (shirt, shorts, socks)  Shin guards completely covered by socks  Appropriate footwear 11

Game Cards  Fill out game cards in advance  Fill out card completely  List ALL players, regardless of who is present  List players by uniform number, from lowest to highest  Include each player’s FULL NAME  Don’t forget the bottom of the card (date, time, field number)  Ensure the game card is stamped by an Administrative representative at the check-in tents before reporting to game field with team 12

  13. Games First Game: 3/7/20 Coach Comments: Let Coach Admin or Referee Admin staff know if there are game issues with parents, spectators, or referees. 13

Conduct Violations  Players and Coaches:  Yellow card – 1 st is caution, 2 nd is ejection and suspension from next game  Red card – ejection and suspension from next game  Spectators:  Warning  Ejection from Ralph M. Lewis Sports Complex  Repeated conduct violations may result in:  Dismissal from teams  Ejection from Region 136  Ineligibility for Select level teams  Ineligibility for Fall Season playoffs 14

Weather  Unless notified by Region 136 Board, practices and games are not cancelled for inclement weather (e.g. wind, rain, heat)  Coaches retain responsibility to cancel practices if deemed necessary  Wind risks: injuries due to foreign objects carried by strong winds, objects blowing into or falling onto players  Heat risks: dehydration, heat-related illnesses  Rain risks: lightning 17

  18. Referees  Treat ALL referees with respect  Do not argue with, yell at, or otherwise antagonize or disrespect any referee  Ensure players and their families do not engage in disrespectful behavior towards referees  Be aware and especially supportive of youth referees  Remember, no one is perfect  Do not take referee calls personal  If necessary, wait until after the game to discuss specific calls with referee  Refer any issues regarding a referee to the Coach Administration Staff immediately following the game 18

  20. 6U & 8U Jamboree • Jamboree is on 5/13/20 on Field #1 @ 6:00pm • The Region will provide food and drink • We will have face painters • There will be games for the kids to play • We will have prizes for all the games 20

  21. Spring Playoffs 10U-14U Volunteer points required: • 12 Referee points required – Max 4 per week • 6 Volunteer points required – Max 2 per week • 18 points total required • Mandatory full fundraiser participation 21
