  5. • Clarke County Jail and Advantage have worked together to establish baseline information about the number of people with mental illness in jail • Two in-depth studies: – October – December 2015 – July – September 2017 • Arrest/booking records were compared with the Electronic Health Records at Advantage; criminal histories were examined using the jail’s database

  6. • Depending on the time of year, between 38% and 39.6% of individuals at the jail have ever been clients at Advantage • 68% have a primary diagnosis of mental health • 31% have a primary diagnosis of addictive disease • 48% have a co-occurring diagnosis of both mental health and addictive disease. • 11% (219 people) had an appointment at Advantage after release from jail – 61 in the first 7 days – 94 in the first 30 days
