PART II FIFTH SCHEDULE: HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES
Division I : General hazardous substances Covers – Corrosives, Flammable substances, explosives, oxidizing substances….mutagens, toxic substances, irritants and substances hazardous to aquatic environment. Division II : Specific hazardous substances Covers – Acetylene, Ammonia, Ammonium nitrate fertilizers, Benzene, ……Paraxylene, Petroleum gases, flammable petroleum products and gasolines, naphthas, kerosenes, gas oils - in specific quantities.

§ Reg 40: Duty on the Occupier to take all reasonably practicable measures to ensure persons at work are not exposed to toxic substances. § Reg 41: Refers to competent person in control who has adequate knowledge of the properties of the hazardous substances and their dangers. § Warning notices, precautionary measures to be taken, safe storage to ensure a safe workplace. § Reg 42: Refers to “Warning Labels” § Reg 43: Refers to “Safety Data Sheets”, access to such information, and its availability to all persons who are liable to be exposed to the substance.
