  • Money awarded by the state for Florida post secondary institutions to cover the cost of tuition (just the cost
  • f classes).
  • There are 3 different scholarships that can be awarded with different eligibility criteria

○ Florida Academic Scholarship (FAS)= 100% tuition and $300 each term for additional educational expenses ○ Florida Medallion Scholarship (FMS)= 75% tuition ○ Florida Gold Seal Scholarship (GSV)= money awarded per college credit hour

  • GSV can only be used at postsecondary institutions that offer an applied technology diploma, technical degree education

program, or career certificate program. (i.e. Associate degree programs at Valencia, Orange Technical Colleges, etc.)

  • Must apply before Graduation in senior year
  • Recommended that ALL seniors apply (even if going out of state for college, think you will not qualify, or

enlisting in the Military) because the scholarship could still be used if you transfer back to a Florida post

secondary institution.
