  7. Many of our streets injure people Across San Mateo County, nearly 500 bicyclists and pedestrians are injured every year.

Our streets shape behaviors • Residents are 65% more likely to walk in a neighborhood with sidewalks. • People who live in walkable neighborhoods get 70 minutes more physical activity per week than people who live in non-walkable neighborhoods • People who live near public transportation are 5 times more likely to commute by transit than other residents in the same region
