We have adopted policies which design streets for cars; not people

Many of our streets kill people

Many of our streets injure people Across San Mateo County, nearly 500 bicyclists and pedestrians are injured every year.

Our streets shape behaviors • Residents are 65% more likely to walk in a neighborhood with sidewalks. • People who live in walkable neighborhoods get 70 minutes more physical activity per week than people who live in non-walkable neighborhoods • People who live near public transportation are 5 times more likely to commute by transit than other residents in the same region

Streets should be great public spaces
