Bobby rounds 603 to the nearest ten. He says it is 610. Is he correct? Why or why not? Use a number line and words to explain your answer.

Explaining if an answer is reasonable

Bobby is not correct. The answer is 600. I know this because I drew a vertical number line with end points of 600 and 610. The midway point is 605. 603 is less than the midway point of 605. Therefore, 603 is closer to 600 and the answer is 600.

603 610 600 605
