TBRI with Scott Watters of AOH

Trust Based Relational Intervention is a set of principles and strategies to give us the tools to bring healing and well-being to children & teens. Our camp curriculum is an integration of these principles and truths we read in Scripture, specifically in the life of Peter.

  • ->Here is a brief overview of TBRI, attachment styles,

and some quick “How Tos” that will help us implement these strategies at camp!

Leading Small Group Time!

  • Small Group questions are attached in the back of

this packet.

  • 30 Second Rule:

○ Silence is okay ○ Wait for answers.

  • You’re a facilitator-not a teacher

○ Ask open-ended questions so they can share thoughts and feelings. ○ Share the role of facilitator

27

slide-28
SLIDE 28

Leading Small Group Time!

  • Ask follow up questions. “Tell me more.” “How do you feel

about that?”

  • Allow the Holy Spirit to work through the study material, the

reflections and questions. “What’s something you will do?”

  • While it’s cool to share your own stories, focus on the campers

and look them in the eye.

  • Call on the quiet ones by name - don’t force participation, but

invite personally. This also helps guide over-talkers.

  • Acknowledge the responses of the sharers

○ “Thanks for sharing”/ “I like that”/ “Very good”

28

slide-29
SLIDE 29

Communications

Mail is bliss! Homesickness is not. JCs are responsible for making sure every kiddo has at least one piece of mail every day. We’ll have paper and markers available. Pass it out in the morning; NOT at night!
