The intent of this collaboration is to assist the student in the development of meaningful educational goals that are consistent with personal interests, values and abilities .” (Dearborn, 2002) • “Advisors teach students how to make the most of their college experience” (Miller, 2012)

  5. iCharleston Academic Advising Model • Fall 2019 : – September - Email Your Advisor Assignment & First Virtual Contact Meeting – November - On-site Visit – December - Second contact meeting **Students can schedule additional virtual sessions if desired • Spring 2020 : – January - New Student Orientation on CofC campus – Two mandatory advising meetings in AAPC with assigned Academic Advisor • Fall 2020 : – Two mandatory advising meetings in AAPC with assigned Academic Advisor

Transferring Credits from iCHS Site Locations • Registrar has vetted ALL course options offered to you • As long as you earn a C or better in your classes abroad, the credit HOURS transfer back to CofC • Average of 14-17 credit hours per semester until graduation (4-6 courses) – You will be registered for 15 hours while studying abroad

Tips for Success • Develop good academic habits while abroad • Read your syllabi and revisit it regularly • Begin developing good time management practices • Go to all of your classes • Consult with your professors before or after class, via email or in their office if you have questions • Utilize the resources at your site to support your academic or personal pursuits (ie. tutoring center/writing lab/counseling center, etc.)
