LO: to estimate capacity

slide-4
SLIDE 4

In order to answers these types of calculation, we will have to practise two key skills.

Key skill 1: to use our knowledge of measure to estimate capacity Key skill 2 - to solve worded questions involving estimating capacity

Watch Me

Key skill 1: to use our knowledge of measure to estimate capacity

What is the capacity of B and C? What will we need to consider? How can we calculate?

Key skill 1: to use our knowledge of measure to estimate capacity

There is 200ml of water in this container. Estimate the capacity of the container.

SLIDE 7

Key skill 1: to use our knowledge of measure to estimate capacity

How many times bigger than A are bottles B and C?

SLIDE 10

Key skill 1: to use our knowledge of measure to estimate capacity

Estimate the capacity of B and C? B = approximately 200ml C = approximately 1,400ml The capacity of the jug is estimated at 450ml.

You could practise estimating using plastic containers and a beaker at home. Ask an adult first and ensure that you do not make a mess (using a shaded outdoor area would be great in this glorious weather!). EXTRA ACTIVITY As you are using a precious natural resource, remember to recycle the water you have used by watering the garden.
