  6. Day One: Thursday, March 30th Early Morning (6:30 a.m.-8:00 a.m.) ■ Students need to arrive at William Annin at 6:30 a.m. ■ Students should not take the BUS to school Thursday morning ■ Luggage searches will be conducted ■ Attendance will be taken ■ Coach buses will depart by 8:00 a.m. 6 C

  7. Day One: Thursday, March 30th ■ Rest stop - bathroom break (Approx 9:30 a.m.) ■ Arrive in D.C.(Approx 1:00 p.m.) ■ Eat bag lunch on the bus en route to DC (no glass or carbonated drinks) 7 C

  9. Day One: Thursday, March 30th Dinner (4:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m.) ■ Two Restaurants ■ Bertucci’s (Coaches 1 -4) ■ Carmine’s Italian Restaurant (Coaches 5 -10) * Please note that special dietary needs & restrictions can be accommodated but we need notification by Monday, March 6, 2017. 9 C

Day One – Thursday, March 30th End of Day Procedures (9:30 p.m. -10:00 p.m.) ■ Hotel Check-In (approx 9:30 p.m.) Trip A: Crystal Gateway Marriott, Arlington, VA Trip B: Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Arlington, VA Trip C: Westin Hotel, Alexandria, VA ■ Lock- In (10:00 p.m.) Doors are sealed, cell phones are collected, and security guards go on duty. 11 D

  12. Day Two - Friday, March 31st ■ 6:00 a.m. - Wake-up call ■ 7:30 a.m. - Breakfast at the hotel ■ Day Two Activities ■ Newseum ■ Small Group Walking Tours of the city 12 D

Day Two - Friday, March 31st Tour the Newseum • A 250,000-square-foot news museum which offers visitors a state-of-the-art experience that blends news history with up-to-the-second technology and hands-on exhibits. • The Newseum Institute serves as a forum for First Amendment study, exploration, and education 13 D

  14. Day Two- Friday, March 31st Smithsonian Institute Museums & the Mall Area -Students will choose their destination and tour with their small group/chaperone -Each student gets $10 lunch stipend 14 D

  15. Day Two - Friday, March 31st 2:00 p.m. -Depart ■ Dinner stop en-route between 7:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Arrive Home ■ Your child will call you when we are approaching Basking Ridge. 15 D

  16. Cell Phone Policy ■ Students will be allowed to carry cell phones on them during the trip. ■ Cell phones must be turned off during the entire trip except in the event of an emergency when students will be instructed to turn their phones on. Parents will be provided with instructions on how they can get in touch with their student on the trip in the event of a family emergency. ■ Cell phones may not be used as cameras or time-telling devices, ■ Students will turn on their phones to call their parents once they are check-in at their hotel room and when their bus is 30 minutes away from WAMS. 16D

  17. Cell Phone Policy ■ When rooms are checked at the end of the first night, all cell phones will be turned off, labeled with each student’s name, and collected by a staff member. ■ Students will be instructed on how to handle an emergency in their room after cell phones have been collected. Parents should be aware that WAMS hires security guards for each floor. The security guards monitor the hallways of students’ rooms throughout the night. Chaperones’/administrators’/nurses’ rooms are clearly marked on the outside of their doors 17D

  18. Cell Phone Policy ■ Cell phones will be housed overnight with an administrator. ■ Students’ cell phones will be returned in the morning when they are signed out of their room. ■ Their phone will remain on their person and off throughout Day 2 of the trip. ■ Once a student’s bus is within 30 minutes from WAMS, the staff will ask students to turn on their phones to call their parents to arrange for pick-up. ■ Any student who does not comply with these rules will have their phone confiscated until an investigation can be completed. Some incidents may require that cell phones may be held over the weekend as deemed necessary by administration. Students in violation of this policy will receive consequences in line with the code of conduct. 18D

  19. Souvenir Money ■ Students may want to bring money to buy souvenirs, snacks, etc. A suggested amount is $40.00-60.00. ■ The only money the students will need for food will be to buy dinner at the rest stop on the way home. Your child should save $15.00-$20.00 for this meal. 19 F

Important Details General Rules ■ As a school trip, we expect the students to follow William Annin’s rules: - Dress Code - Cell Phones off and on their person (must bring separate camera and watch) - Following Directions - Respectful Behavior ■ Appropriate disciplinary action (from verbal warnings to removal from the trip) 21 F

Important Details ■ Weather - The trip is rain or shine, please make sure your child is prepared for all conditions ■ Packing - A detailed list of what to pack will be provided in your child’s trip booklet and will be on the WAMS Washington D.C. website ■ Meals - Dietary needs & restrictions due to medical reasons can be accommodated. Please email the trip advisors by Monday, March 6 for accommodations. 22 F
