A little information about RHS
Link Crew First Day
- Each of you will be assigned two link crew students that will
be your “mentor” for the year.
- They will have a locker near you and will be able to answer
any questions you may have.
- On the first day freshmen, new students in grades 10-12, and
link crew members are the only students who begin the day at 8:00am. You are given a tour, enjoy games and activities to get your nerves out.
Semester and Daily Schedule
- There are 7 hours in a day, each class is 50
minutes long
- Passing time is 4 minutes long
- We have 3 lunches A, B, C
- School time is 8:00am-2:50pm

As a freshman in the graduating class of 2024, you will need:
- 8 English Credits
- 7 Social Studies Credits
- 6 Science Credits
- 6 Math Credits
- 2 Art Credits
- 1 Health Credit (can be taken in 10th grade)
- 1 Physical Education (can be taken in 9th grade)
- 1 Career and Technical Education course
- 18 Electives
- Total of 50 required credits
*Can earn up to 56 credits

Photography #4000 Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12 1 Semester/1 Credit Supply fee - TBD Students will capture images and explore key concepts of multimedia such as aesthetics, change, communication . Original expression of feeling, mood, and content through inquiry projects will help develop their personal vision as student media
- artists. Students will be learning to use elements
and tools of current and emerging technologies to create and edit images including Adobe Creative product software. Connecting skills specific to the creative industry and discipline that engage a process of creative exploration. Unit study in MYP arts have four objectives of equal importance and value: knowing and understanding, developing skills, thinking creatively, responding.
New Courses for 2020-2021
Film Studies # 7403 Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12 1 Semester/1 credit This course introduces students to the study and analysis of films from a variety of eras, genres, and
- nationalities. Additionally, students will be
introduced to academic terminology within film and focus on the specific processes that occur during the pre production, production, and post production stages of filmmaking. While students will view several feature films from variety of diverse backgrounds, students will spend the bulk of the course learning how to create analytical essays, scripts, storyboards, lighting diagrams, sound compositions, and short films. The course is intended for students who may be interested in continuing on to the IB DP Film course in 11th and 12th grade in the Diploma or Career Programme, and IB –style models and grading will be used in the class.
Construction Terms, Materials, Methods and Codes
# 2300 Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12 1 Semester/1 Credit This is a one semester class that will focus on the use
- f common construction systems. In this class,
students will be introduced to proper terminology and usage of wood, steel concrete, and selected manufactured materials. There will be some hands
- n projects to acquaint students with tools,
equipment and materials. No fee will be assessed for this course. *This course is a pre-requisite for the General Construction Course, which can be taken in 10th grade.

Woods, Construction Finishing I
# 2401 Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12 1 Semester/1 Credit Fee: TBA This is a one semester class in which the students will focus on fine woodworking techniques in building smaller projects. In this class the students will learn to safely operate different pieces of woodworking equipment. The fee will be determined by the projects built and the materials used based on the current wood price.

Criteria for Guided Study
- 1. Pass/Fail Grade
- What does a P/F grade mean for your transcript? (GPA, class
rank, etc.)
- 2. One semester will count as 1 elective credit
- 3. Cell Phones are not allowed
- Expectation to power phone off during class
- 4. Structured environment with student accountability
- Weekly goal sheets (projects, exams, assignments to work on
throughout the week)
- 5. Daily Attendance
- Poor attendance could result in a failing grade
- 6. No Sleeping
IB and World Language requirement
- Two years of a Foreign Language may be
required for admission at colleges and universities.

What Happens If You Get an “F”
- Begin with the end in mind.
- Grades “matter”
- Your transcript is a document that many folks (future
employers, college admission officers, etc.) will be Very interested in
- What do you want them to see???
- If you get an “F,” you will need to repeat the class or make it
up in night school or summer school.
- If you receive an “F” it stays on your transcript.
- Make sure to keep track of your grades and transcript. You
don’t want to have to take a freshman level course as a senior.
