The Truth of Palm Oil

  • Responsibly cultivated palm oil is more

environmentally beneficial than any other oil crop. Malaysia is a world model for sustainable palm oil production It is true that palm oil is categorise as :-

  • Gift to the Nature
  • Gift to the World
  • Gift to the mankind

The Palm Fruit

2 kinds of oil are extracted from the fruit: The palm oil and the palm kernel oil. Although originally from the same fruit, these 2 oils are very different. The palm oil has a higher content of palmitic and oleic acids, while the palm kernel oil contains mainly lauric, myristic and oleic acids. The palm oil is also rich in beta and alpha-carotenes, as well as natural antioxidants:tocopherol and tocotrienols.

MINOR COMPONENTS OF OILS AND FATS

  • Phospholipids,Glucolipids,Lipoproteins,Sterols: phytosterols/

cholesterol

  • Tocopherols/tocotrienols,Squalene,Carotenoids/ Xantophylls

(beta carotene/ alfa carotene, lutein),Polyphenols,Triterpene alcohols

  • Monoglycerides,Diglycerides
  • Minor components are important as well as they play

important role during process and need to be removed (metals, phospholipids, glucolipids, lipoproteins, chlorophyll, carotenes, gossypol etc) and affect appearance, color, taste and stability of the oil and some of them present are important nutraceutical value( tocopherols, tocotrienols and polyphenols, squalene, sterols).

FEED APPLICATION

  • Palm oil has been good source of energy for

animal feed

  • With good balance of Fatty acid

composition

  • Value added product has been created

using speciality ingredients to enhance the palatability of the feed

Palm Biodiesel

  • Malaysia palm oil methyl ester and palm olein

methyl ester meets the European (EN14214) and USA (ASTM D6751) standards. It contains virtually zero sulphur, thereby burning cleaner than traditional petroleum-based fuel. biodiesel plants are located in Malaysia

Palm wax - Key Findings

  • OPPORTUNITIES
  • Most of the waxes are either :
  • unique in properties
  • used for special applications
  • btained from special sources and processes.
  • We identified to promote palm wax as replacement
  • f paraffin wax because :
  • Palm wax performance is close to paraffin wax in

candle, board coating and fire logs applications.

PILLAR: A free-standingcandle, usually having a diameter of 3 inches or more, and one or more

  • wicks. Despite the name, pillars or column candles

can be round, square, hexagonal, etc. Although they stand on their own, they must be burned on a heat- resistant candle holder. CONTAINER, JAR OR FILLED CANDLE: A candle that is poured when manufactured into a glass, metal or ceramic container specifically designed to hold the wax and withstand the heat of the burning candle. VOTIVE: A small cylindrical candle, usually about 1½ inches in diameter and 2 or 2½ inches high, designed to be placed in a "cup" or votive holder to hold the liquefied wax that results from

  • burning. Votives were originally produced as white unscented

candles for religious ceremonies; they are now available in many colors and scents.
