WHAT TO RECORD ON A PEDIGREE CHART
- 1. Start with yourself (or you could start with a
spouse, parent, child as #1)
- 2. Work from known to unknown
- 3. Males on even numbers
- 4. Females on uneven numbers
- 5. Write forename and then the surname
- 6. Surnames in CAPITALs
- 7. Use female maiden names
- 8. Write date—DD Mmm YYYY
- 9. Record your source—so we all know how you
know what you know!
- 10. Record place in full—town, parish/region,
county/state, country
Use Jan’s pedigree chart & it will be your reference also
