What Happens in AVID?
The AVID program at BHS has three parts…
- Students receive academic instruction in writing and the following:
notetaking, studying, time management, test taking, & organization
- Students receive academic support:
tutors / tutorial, collaborative groups, and peer counseling
- Students are motivated to pursue academic excellence:
college field trips, classroom guest speakers, and AVID team building

- Teaches you to work collaboratively
to be successful in the most rigorous courses.
- Takes you to visit colleges and universities
in both Northern and Southern California.
