AVID = Advancement Via Individual Determination A direct support structure for students’ academic and career success. A structured, college preparatory system working directly with schools and districts. A school wide approach to curriculum and rigor adopted by nearly 6,200 schools in 46 states and 16 countries impacting 1.5 million students. A professional development program providing training throughout the world. AVID strategies support the Common Core State Standards. AVID is focused on students who are at risk of not going on to college or career programs.

AVID at MHS and MVHS
AVID will begin at MHS and MVHS in fall of 2017. The AVID Elective classes will be offered at grade levels 9 & 10 at MHS and grade 9 at MVHS. There will be two class sections of AVID with approximately 60 students enrolled. MHS and MVHS Administration, teachers and counselors will participate in AVID training this summer.
