Maths • Taught daily, including a maths investigation • Mixed ability teaching • Curriculum expectations are high – greater emphasis on number fluency and ability to reason mathematically • Place value • Addition and subtraction • Using number lines or pictorial representations • Multiplication / division • Fractions • Measurement – time, shape, money • How you can help – play games, talk about maths in real life contexts eg shopping, telling the time , cooking.

English • Spelling taught each week in separate session • English lessons 5 times a week which include spelling, grammar, reading, speaking and listening and writing skills. • Fiction and non fiction covered • Independent writing – editing and improving • Mixed ability groupings • Handwriting – cursive writing taught • Big Read – termly. This term date to be confirmed • Poetry Day – Friday 6 th October
