Welcome

‘Flying not coasting’ on your ‘Top Flight’ - Pipeline journey 2018.

Fir irst thin ings fir irst – in in the best of all ll possible worlds…

  • Take a moment to reflect and then collect - what is it you truly and deeply

dream about achieving for yourself, first as a leader and secondly as a woman this year?

  • What does your organisation hope and wish for you and themselves this

year?

  • One condition applies: envision and think in the positive, the affirmative, the

creative.

  • Write down.
  • Share in pairs.
  • Then share with the group.

Good news!

The Top Flight Programme, within it the TF Coaching is here to help you get there.

Coaching ali ligned to achieving your desired outcomes, those of your

  • rganisation and the TF Programme e.g.
  • Understanding the value you bring to your organisation to realise an even

better win - win.

  • Your vision for your future career – life goals over the next 18 months to 3

years and with a 6/12 plan to fill gaps.

  • Clarity of your purpose as a leader, the purpose of your organisation, ease

and fluency in expressing them.

  • Clarity in expressing your compelling personal brand and key skill (leadership

spike).

4

slide-5
SLIDE 5

TF Coaching - a space to…

  • A space to become more comfortable and confident within yourselves with a

greater understanding of the positive and inspiring impact you have on

  • thers. In 360’s I have seen (senior) women significantly underrate

themselves, their colleagues consistently rate them higher (anecdotal – William – researchable opportunity).

  • How to ensure you have appropriate and muscular sponsors in place.
  • Practical strategies on issues e.g. new options, new perceptions and greater

choice on how you are and what you do and how you do it. On both social and emotional intelligence, women have the edge. Not anecdotal! (Harvard Business Review and Daniel Goleman on EQ of Leadership.)

  • Providing a strategic thinking and play space: time to explore and think with

the present, future and big picture in mind especially if creating this for yourself has been difficult historically.

  • A safe and confidential space to discuss the undiscussables.

5

slide-6
SLIDE 6

We’ll also help you to to

  • Develop the team around you with appropriate levels of delegation.
  • Have the right support networks in place including at your office and at

home.

  • Establish the right balance between thinking and learning about the future,

as well as here and now.

  • Comfortable to establish relationships and enjoy the company of senior

leaders.

  • Discuss your careers with employers in a business-like manner.

TF Coaching is a transformational space and practical tool to explore, grow and ultimately succeed. A brief history of Coaching:

  • Coaching is the birth child of Mentoring first found in the classical period in Greek mythology.

‘Mentor’ appears in Homer’s Odyssey, a wise and experienced guide for Odysseus on the epic journey.

  • ‘Coaching’ term started in the latter part of the 1880s, mostly associated with the sports

profession.

  • Coaching is powerful medium for change and success here aligned within the whole TF

Programme.

  • In business the idea of coaching developed as organisations needed to understand employee

motivation, their development and progression needs.

  • Tim Gallwey's book "The Inner Game of Tennis" in 1974 related to a more psychological

approach to peak performance. The opponent in one's head was greater than the one on the

  • ther side of the net.
  • In 1992, Sir John Whitmore, "Coaching for Performance" and developed the GROW model

(Goal, Reality, Options, Will).

7

Practically how to make the most of your TF Coaching

  • Be present – open and curious, mindfulness, prioritise coaching as a pivotal

part of this years programme, minimise distractions.

  • Control the controllables - we are all in control of some things, work on

controlling reactions.

  • Change one thing in a system and the system changes – we are all change

agents.

  • Be prepared to engage in ‘small experiments’ to stretch and develop how you

lead, think, feel, behave and relate.

  • Practise your ability to become a more reflective practioner, (antidote to

‘busyness’ which can be a defensive routine to avoid..?)

  • Practice the Yoga of Leadership - the new normal - constant change,

uncertainty, ambiguity and volatility, always on culture, information overload - developing your innate capacity and confidence to be agile in the face of the VUCA world as it is now - women have the EQ & SQ edge!
