What is JV Paw 2 Cat Comforting?

  • Allows JVs to work with cats in Uptown and

Downtown areas

  • Provides care to cats who may be more

challenging or need extra special attention

 “JV Paw 2” designated cats  Only in either Paw 1 OR Paw 2 area, not both

 Presents new challenges

 Fewer places for the cat to hide  Smaller space to work with  More “intrusive” to the cats  Easier to “escape” for cats  Fomite transfer

Help Our Animals to Be the Best!

 Discourage rough play  Keep them in their space (not on

your lap or out of the kennel)

 Use calm, gentle petting

 Slow, one handed petting in the

direction the fur grows

 Avoid petting cat’s stomachs

 Respond to their cues and needs

 Pay attention to cat body language

 You may only volunteer for what you sign up for!  If you do any shelter cleaning, you cannot visit with

more animals that day

 You may not bring friends or family members with

you (unless they are a JV or adult volunteer and have signed up for a shift)

 You should only plan on staying for your assigned

shift

 Make room for guests who are interested in

adopting
