MATH ACCELERATION BY CBE

  • Regardless of the testing date for a CBE for acceleration, placement in a

new course will only take place at the beginning of a school year.

  • Although there is no study guide, parents/learners may access the Texas

Education Agency's website to view the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) covered in the exams.

  • To register for the math acceleration test please talk with your

elementary school counselor for the CBE application.

  • Available CBE’s include Math 6 and Math 7. All CBE’s are offered as
  • n level credit. Honors credit is not awarded for Credit By Exams.

6TH GRADE ELECTIVES

  • Learners can select two electives in 6th grade

– PE / Off Campus PE – Art A (learners will draw, paint, sculpt, use printmaking techniques, and be introduced to graphic art) – Band (fitting appointment required, members learn how to play a wind, brass, or percussion instrument) – Choir (Treble Choir is 6th/7th grade girls. Boys Choir is 6th/7th/8th boys. Performance class, open to all 6th grade learners who enjoy singing and performing) – Theatre A (experience the basic elements of drama, beginning acting techniques, and performing for an audience.) – Spanish II Honors (for elementary DLI students) – Creative Writing/Reading Studio (various fictional styles such as prose, poetry, and drama through self-selected and guided reading choices) (Designated support classes will take an elective choice)

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

  • Learners must have two years of PE in middle school (OCPE,

PE, Athletics)

  • PE –focuses on fitness, health, and wellness, organized games
  • OCPE – outside of the school day
  • Two categories (5 or 15 hours)
  • Must be 5 days a week August – June (entire school year)
  • The OCPE application can be found on CMS North website

under Academics and Off Campus PE or by clicking HERE

  • The online application is due by August 14th

Course Requests

  • Parents log in to the Home Access Center (HAC) using your PARENT

account (https://hac.coppellisd.com)

  • If you do not know how to log in to HAC go to the North website,

choose “Parents” then “technology systems guide”

  • Click on classes and then on the “requests” tab to access the

registration page:

  • Rank electives in priority 1-5 on the paper registration form. The top

TWO electives go into HAC.

  • Core classes are preloaded. You will select your Math course and

counselors will adjust for GT when necessary

  • You must click SAVE after each course is selected.
