  6. Students will not be permitted to bring cell phones on this trip. Please help • us enforce this important rule. No electronic devices (hand-held games systems, -i-watch, fit-bits, etc). • All chaperones will be carrying “GO PHONES” which students will have access to. Parents will be provided with the phones numbers of all chaperones “GO PHONES” • All school rules apply while on this trip….Mr. Getman or Trip Coordinators will attend to students with disciplinary issues. Students are “taped” into their hotel rooms at night. Overnight security • guards are provided for your child’s safety. Leaving hotel rooms after being taped in for the night will result in serious consequences. • Chaperones are giving up their personal time to attend this trip – encourage your child to recognize this and thank them periodically.

REGISTRATION There are STRICT registration deadlines this year for our Washington DC trip. 6 buses reserved – 1 bus on hold (buses will be released dependent on registration numbers) Tickets need to be reserved for Holocaust, Capitol, and National African American Museum (need accurate numbers) STUDENTS MUST BE REGISTERED WITH BOTH BRIGHTSPARKS AND SMS INCLUDING A DEPOSIT BY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27 th . SMS registration/Emergency Release form must be turned in to Mrs. Klock or Mrs. Pepe.

  10. SMS Registration and Emergency Release Form This is REQUIRED by the Somers Central School District for all students attending a school sponsored trip. This form can be found on the SMS website. We have additional copies here if you need one. Forms should be returned to Mrs. Pepe or Mrs. Klock

  11. How to Register 1. Visit portal.brightsparktravel.com 2. Choose when your participant’s trip travels 3. Create a new profile by entering a Parent/Guardian email address. Click GET STARTED to continue.

  12. How to Register All fields with * are required. 4. Enter Parent/Guardian information. Click CREATE ACCOUNT to continue. Register for your participant’s class 5. trip by using the 7 character portal code you were given by your trip organizer. Click OK to continue.

  13. How to Register REGISTER MYSELF will only appear if your trip allows adults to attend the trip. 6. Click REGISTER MY CHILD to register for the class trip. All fields with * are required. Passport information only required for international trips. 7. Enter student personal information: Name, Date of Birth, Address, Emergency Contacts, Allergies, etc. Click NEXT to continue.

  14. How to Register 8. Select the options you would like to include in your child’s trip price: room upgrades (if available), optional RGP trip protection, etc. Click NEXT to continue. Don’t forget to select RGP! If you choose not to enroll in AutoPay, you can register later if you change your mind. 9. Here you will review the trip price and select a trip deposit and payment plan. Click NEXT to continue.

  17. Financial Aid There is a limited amount of scholarship money available to offset the cost of the Washington D.C. trip for families who are in need of financial assistance. There is a financial aid form which is available in the main office and will be posted online in the Washington DC link on the Middle School webpage. Please fill out the form and return it no later than OCTOBER 17 th to Mr. Getman’s office There will be NO FULL SCHOLARSHIPS awarded this year. ALL STUDENTS (including those receiving scholarships) MUST REGISTER ONLINE WITH BRIGHTSPARKS BY THE DEADLINE OF OCTOBER 27, 2015 . PLEASE CONTACT MRS. KLOCK IF YOU HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THE REGISTRATION DEPOSIT AMOUNT at mklock@somersschools.org

  18. Medication Students must have a medical form submitted for this trip! Students that need medication must have their medication brought to school and given to Mrs. Camilli (school nurse). There will be 3 dates available for parents to bring both the medical form and medication. These forms will be distributed at the parent meeting in January. NO ROOM GROUPS OR BUS ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE MADE UNTIL MEDICAL FORMS ARE RECEIVED. Medical forms are needed for all medication including, TYLENOL, ADVIL, TUMS, MOTION SICKNESS MEDICATION etc….. Students with medical needs will be travelling on bus with nurse. ANY STUDENT WITH DIETARY NEEDS …please send Mrs. Klock/Mrs. Pepe and email with those dietary restrictions so they can make the appropriate arrangements. mklock@somersschools.org apepe@somersschools.org
