Nearly 85% of the VW Settlement for Utah is allocated to government entities for:
- Replacing or repowering Class 4-8
local freight trucks
- Replacing or repowering Class 4-8
school buses, shuttle buses, or transit buses
- Purchasing, installing, and
maintaining light-duty electric- vehicle supply equipment (EVSE)

Vehicle or Engine Replacements:
Up to 50% of the cost for new diesel or alternative fuels
- Up to 55% for new vehicles or engines certified to the California Air Resources
Board’s (CARB) Optional Low-NOx Standards
- Up to 65% for new all-electric replacement vehicles or engines
- Charging infrastructure may be included
Light-Duty, EVSE:
- Up to 100% of the cost to purchase, install, and maintain EVSEs available to the
public at government-owned facilities
- Up to 60% of the cost to purchase, install, and maintain EVSEs available at a
government workplace but not to the general public

Vehicle/Engine Replacement Projects Minimum Requirements

- Vehicles/engines must be engine model years 1992-2006 and currently registered
in the State of Utah.
- Vehicles/engines must be operable and have a minimum of three years remaining
in their useful life at the time of replacement. Funding must be used to retire vehicles/engines sooner than they are regularly scheduled.
- Vehicles/engines being replaced must be scrapped
- r permanently disabled within 90 days of being
replaced by drilling a three-inch-by-three-inch hole in the engine block and cutting the chassis rails
- n both sides.
- Replacement vehicles/engines must stay within the same vehicle class and
- perate in the same function and areas as the vehicle being replaced.
Division of Air Quality
- The facility where the light-duty EVSE is installed must be a government-owned
property.
- Site evaluation must be conducted by electric utility provider and facility
management agency showing that the project is feasible.

Application Information
- DAQ will begin accepting applications on Monday, October 1, 2018.
- Applications will be due by November 30, 2018.
- Incomplete applications and/or applications without required
attachments will not be evaluated. Applications may not be revised or supplemental information provided after November 30, 2018.
- Successful applicants will have three years from the time of the award
to complete projects.
- Future funding opportunities through the VW Settlement will depend on
the number and amounts of successful projects that receive awards through this current funding opportunity.
