  4. WHO WE ARE • Established in 1971 by the UN General Assembly as a common service provider to the UN system. • Administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). • Focal point for volunteerism within the United Nations.

  5. Former UN Youth Volunteer Blanka Caletková is currently serving as International Specialist as Reporting and Coordination Officer at UN OUR GOALS Peacekeeping mission in Mali (MINUSMA).   11. VOLUNTEERISM FOR THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS • Traditional means of implementation need to be complemented by participatory mechanisms that facilitate people’s engagement. • Volunteers are the drivers of change and are instrumental in achieving the Global Goals by 2030. 11

CZECH UN VOLUNTEERS Since 2008, more than 114 Czech nationals served as UN Volunteers . • In 2018, 19 Czech nationals (74% female and 26% male) served as UN Volunteers (average age 30 years). • Of these 14 UN Youth Volunteers (below the age of 29 years) were funded by the Government of the Czech Republic. • Current number of registered Czech nationals as candidates in UNV’s Global Talent Pool: 326. 23
