He visualized a general scheme of development in all branches of knowledge at different stages by making contributions in: Urban Infrastructure – wider and better approach roads – Ajwa lake (one of the main water sources for the city since, last 100 years with population being 2 lakhs then to 18 lakhs now) – major rail junction for broad guage and narrow gauge tracks, one of the early creations in India – one of the 1st Aerodromes of state – plenty of Gardens and Museums – marvellous architecture of palaces, educational institutes, court of law, public buildings & other structures Education & Medical – M. S. University, a world recongnised educational institute comprising of unique faculties – Sayaji General Hospital Finance & Other segments – Bank of Baroda, a leading nationalized bank and the 1st Indian Bank to have a global foot print – Cantonment and Air-defence base Sir Sayajirao Gaekwad III (1875-1939 AD)

Industrial Growth – Overview • The first modern factory of Vadodara was established way back in 1907 and subsequently other major industrial development came up. • Soon after independence, city upon its visionary planning attracted many PSU‟s, Government enterprises and companies which brought heavy investments into various sectors. • The city turned from princely state into petrochemical hub then into pharmaceutical, chemical, engineering and industrial excellence.
