WHAT IS UV LED CURING? UV LED curing is based of select wavelengths usually 385nm- 395nm for offset presses. These lamps generally produce more power in a narrow wavelength than a conventional mercury vapor lamp There are some manufacturers using 365nm ranges, but they are not as common.
BENEFITS OF UV LED CURING? • Better depth of Cure • Less heat distortion • More energy efficient • Longevity of the lamp life • No venting necessary • Instant on and off
LED INKS AND CUSTOMER COMMENTS Greatly improved color strength and transfer characteristics Increased press stability and press speeds Adhesion and peel strength improved over conventional cure. Improved water/ink balance Less cure issues with darker colors
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN CONSIDERING LED UV 1. Will mercury vapor systems be available in the future? 2. Will energy savings warrant the increase with initial price? 3. Would less heat influence your current products look and durability? 4. Would reduced heat contribute to less wasted cards? 5. Will the increased press speeds influence your next equipment purchase?
