WHAT IS TUTORIAL SERVICES?

• Tutorial Services provides a

supportive learning environment to all MVC students seeking academic assistance outside the classroom.

• Tutorial Services provides free on-

site group and one-on-one tutoring in most academic subjects.

• Tutors review course material,

assignments and build on strategies to encourage students to succeed.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR TUTORING?

• To qualify for tutoring, you must be enrolled

in the subject in which you need the tutoring in AND be currently enrolled at Moreno Valley College.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

• Our services are absolutely Free!

THE NEW TUTORIAL LEARNING CENTER

• Tutorial Services has moved to the Tutorial

Learning Center (TLC) Room #206 in Student Academic Services (SAS) Building

• Tutoring sessions take place in the TLC and

right next door in Room #202, the Student Tutoring Academic Resource (STAR) Lab.

HOW MANY HOURS OF TUTORING CAN A STUDENT RECEIVE?

• Two 50 minute sessions

per subject per week. (based to tutor availability).

• Additional tutoring is

available for students enrolled in the EOP&S and/or SSS program.

CONVENIENT GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS

• Students can benefit from learning in small

group tutoring sessions.

• Individual, more focused sessions are

available.

SPECIALIZED TUTORING AVAILABLE

• We offer 1 on 1 tutoring for

EOP&S (Extended Opportunity Programs & Services) students, and SSS (Student Support Services).

• EOP&S students must bring

an EOP&S form to the Tutorial office before the 1

can receive additional tutoring sessions as needed.

HELP US RECRUIT TUTORS!

Tutors are recruited by:

• FACULTY RECOMMENDATIONS
• E-mail
• Word of mouth
• Flyers and Brochures

OUR TUTORS ARE HIGHLY QUALIFIED

Our tutors must:

• Be enrolled in at least 6 units in

fall and spring or 3 units in summer and winter.

• Have previously completed the course(s)

with a grade of “A” or “B.”

• Possess exceptional communication and

people skills.

WE PROVIDE OTHER SERVICES AS WELL

• Student Tutoring Academic Resource

Lab (STAR) in Room #202 provides additional space for tutoring sessions and a quiet room to study in.

• Math Express gives students an
• pportunity to receive free math help

with no appointment necessary.
