PRINTING BASICS
You have a Printing Plate which is the surface
- nto or into which the image is placed
A Transfer is made when you pull a print from
the printing plate. It is a mirror image.
When you make a printing plate, several 100’s or
1000’s of prints can be made from the plate
An Edition is a group of identical prints, all made
from the same plate.

PRINTING AN EDITION- WHAT TO KNOW
The artist chooses the best prints for the edition They are numbered in order of how they were printed When the edition is complete prints are numbered. The
number of the print pulled goes on top/the number of total prints pulled goes under
Under the pulled print, the proper way to label an edition
is:
“Title” #of print pulled/# of total prints pulled
Artist Signature & Completion date
