Tiger Talk Program

❖ The Tiger Talk program was first introduced in 1957 to SPHS and made its debut by selling them to cover the costs of

  • printing. Today School newspapers are distributed in

homeroom with no cost. (cost was approx. a dime) ❖ Addressed Controversial topics ❖ Started off as a program, a part of the journalism class but over time it became its own club! ❖ After the late 50’s more clubs dedicated to writing and literature opened up. ❖ Today, while the newspaper club still exists, students now receive school news through SPHS Tiger TV!

➢ Ex: Homemaking Club in 1958 was

  • ffered to both women and men however

they were two separate clubs. ❖ Clubs like Stage crew and Projection were typically only occupied by males. ❖ The Child Care club was available to women ❖ Around the late 70’s is when you would begin to see females joining clubs like Stage crew ❖ Today is drastically different regarding club membership as both females and males can join! 1958
