Scholarships for master’s level studies in Sweden - overview

  • Some 40-50 scholarships per year
  • Full-degree studies in Sweden (one/two academic years)
  • A wide selection of master’s degree programmes, taught in

English and held at some 30 universities across Sweden

  • Grant for living expenses of SEK 9,000 per month
  • Travel grant, Health insurance, Tuition fee coverage
  • Possibilities for part-time jobs, internships and project

involvement

1. Get an English language certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge, Pearson) 2. Choose study programme at a Swedish University. A list of eligible programmes will be available at www.si.se from mid-November 2017 3. Apply for the selected study programme(s) via the Swedish central admissions system at www.universityadmissions.se (December 2017 – January 2018) 4. Pay the application fee (mandatory) 5. Apply for a SI Visby Programme scholarship by using the SI online electronic application form (February 2018)

  • Motivation letter (mandatory to use SI Visby Programme template)
  • CV (Europass template only)
  • Letter of reference

6. Wait for the admissions result (March 2018) 7. Scholarship grants communicated to the successful candidates (April 2018)

Scholarships for master’s level studies in Sweden - How to apply?

PhD studies, Post-doctoral research

  • Some 40-50 scholarships per year
  • Research visits to Sweden for 6, 9 or

12 months (6 months for senior scientists)

  • Monthly grant for living expenses of

SEK 15,000 (PhD students), SEK 18,000 (postdocs, senior scientists)

  • Sandwich model (optional) to divide

the scholarship period into several shorter research visits Requirement: You must find a Swedish research group, willing to host you

Scholarships for exchange studies in Sweden

  • Some 20 scholarships per year
  • Exchange students only
  • Full-time studies, 1-2 semesters
  • Studies in any subject possible, but should be relevant for

the scholarship candidate, and thoroughly motivated in the application

  • Studies in either English or Swedish, but priority to given

to applications for studies undertaken in Swedish language

  • Scholarship of SEK 9,000/month, travel grant of SEK

5,000 and medical insurance also included
