Why the need for 2030 Agenda?

  • The MDGs set out goals mainly for developing

countries, to which rich countries provided assistance through finance and technology.

  • In contrast, the SDGs are “universal goals” that apply

to all countries and “involve the entire world, developed and developing countries alike”.

  • The 2030 Agenda is not about what the rich should

do for the poor, but what all countries together should do for the global well‐being of this generation and those to come.
