A lifesaving collaboration between Magen David Adom UK, American Friends of Magen David Adom and the Government of Israel

CENTRE

The National Blood and Logistics Centre will be funded by a three- way partnership between the Government of Israel, the American Friends of Magen David Adom and Magen David Adom UK. The success of this project will guarantee Israel’s blood supply in the face of rapid population growth, the on-going threat of terrorism and the increasingly complex risks of cyber-attack.

MAGEN DAVID ADOM IS EMBARKING ON AN AMBITIOUS CAMPAIGN TO BUILD AN £80M STATE- OF-THE-ART BLOOD AND LOGISTICS CENTRE.

SAFEGUARDING ISRAEL’S BLOOD SUPPLY

Demand for emergency blood supplies is projected to increase in line with the growth of Israel’s population. By 2030, 500,000 units per annum will be required, compared with just 270,000 units today.

The new Blood Centre will:

• Utilise the latest technology

to ensure that all of Israel has safe access to emergency blood supplies.

• Perform the vital function of

managing the blood supply for all of Israel.

• Function as a base for research

& development to ensure that MDA’s technology will always be future-ready.

This component of the project is being led by American Friends of Magen David Adom.

SAVING MORE LIVES – FASTER

The Logistics Centre will incorporate the central, national medical and

• perational equipment storage facility, in which all emergency medical

supplies will be stored. This will streamline capabilities enabling medical teams to reach emergency situations faster, no matter where

• r when they occur.

A STATE OF THE ART FACILITY

162,814 sq ft centre built on 5.43 acres

fjltered space. 400 staff members to be accommodated at the complex. Unparalleled access routes to the length and breadth of Israel. Will meet current earthquake guidelines and sheltered areas will be based on the Home Front Command and National Security Council recommendations.

A MULTI- OPERATIONAL FOCUS

The Logistics Centre will be characterised by four main types of activities

NATIONAL MEDICAL LOGISTICS FACILITY

The Logistics Department is responsible for all of MDA’s required equipment, including ordering, receiving, checking, sorting, storing, and distributing equipment to the regions, stations and various MDA units across the country.

• Bespoke storage facility dependent on need

(e.g. regular, overseas stock, employee stock).

• Easy access of trucks for loading and

unloading stock.

• Designated areas for preparing

equipment orders.

• Large amounts of shelving/surfaces for

storage purposes.

THE NATIONAL ARCHIVE

A signifjcant space within the new campus will be assigned to the creation of Magen David Adom’s national archive. For the fjrst time the organisation will be able to house a set of all its records in one location (with off-site backups available elsewhere). This will include all medical, fjnancial and human resource (HR) documents, stretching back over the past eight decades.

NATIONAL AMBULANCE CENTRE

This department checks and maintains all types of MDA vehicles – from ambulances to mobile blood units, medicycles to command vehicles.

ADMINISTRATIVE WING

Including: the offjces of the logistic division, and, the safety, construction and asset management departments and central medical records and administration archive.

It will be here that the following is taken care of:

• Statutory administrative aspects of

MDA assets.

• Maintenance of 143 stations, buildings

and assets.

• Managing MDA building projects.
• Safety and safety prevention training,

including implementation of regulations.

• National medical records.

This will also incorporate a new ambulance station to serve the Ramla region. evel 1
