Value is one of the basic elements of a painting and art. It refers to the lightness or darkness of a color, rather than the actual color or hue.

Inside the art of value there is the feature colour. The artist will use the same colour in most cases but, they will use different shades of the colour. Another feature in value is emphasis. The main part of the some pieces of art is the emphasis. Using different shades of a colour and using different types of painting skills helps it make it look bigger in the painting or drawing.
