The Carbon Cycle and its challenge

Historically, the different natural CO2 sources have always been balanced by natural (photosynthesis) CO2 consumers (Forests/Oceans).

  • THE UNBALANCING FACTOR IN THE

CARBON CYCLE IS GIVEN BY HUMAN/INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITIES.

  • THIS PROBLEM IS WORSENED BY THE

FACT THAT, STILL TODAY, A BIG PORTION OF CO2 FOR INDUSTRIAL AND FOOD UTILIZATIONS, IS STILL EXTRACTED FROM NATURAL SOURCE (WELLS), INSTEAD OF RECYCLING THE ALREADY EXISTING CO2 EXCESS. Fossil Fuels/Decay CO2 Animal Emissions Ocean Uptake CO2 Photosyntesis Natural Emissions CO2 CO2 CO2 CO2 CO2 Industrial/Human Emissions

The solution

Solution to the problem

  • f

CO2 excess production, in gaseous phase, into atmosphere, which is the cause

  • f

the greenhouse effect and consequent global warming, is: CAPTURE PARTIALLY OR TOTALLY OF THE EXCESS CO2, RELEASED BY INDUSTRIAL/HUMAN ACTIVITIES, AND RECOVER IT TO REUSE FOR VARIOUS INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS. WHAT ARE THESE POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS OF CO2 ?

CO2 Applications

AS SOLID (DRY ICE)

Slice/ Blocks machines for:

  • Cold Energy supply
  • Pelletizer
  • Blasting units

USA – dry ice revert gas recovery plant 130 MTPD

  • Cold Energy supply (to replace Freon)
  • Supercritical solvent

AS LIQUID AS GAS

  • Green Houses
  • Food&Beverage (carbonated Drinks, Beers)
  • Anti-Fire Systems
  • Alkalines neutralization
  • component to produce several chemicals (i.e.: Carbonates, Bi-carbonates, Urea)
  • Bacteriostatic agent for inert atmospheres in food packaging
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Surgery
  • Micro-algae growing agent
  • Re-carbonation of desalted water
  • Chemicals production
  • … many others

CO2 Extraction Plants

Tecno Project Industriale (TPI) Extraction plants can produce HIGH PURITY (Food Grade) CO2 starting from streams even with low CO2 content and/or critical pollutants. The flue gases to be treated can be produced by steam boilers or by cogeneration motors, power stations, syngas, cement factories, ethanol, biogas or other chemical processes where CO2 percentage ranges from 5 to 95%. TPI’s technology works with selective solvents , distillation, membranes. TPI’s design allows to achieve:

ITALY– Extraction Capacity: 4000 kg/h from petrochemical syngas.

  • Reduced steam consumption.
  • Low solvent consumption.
  • High energy efficiency.
  • CO2 Food grade.
  • Cost savings from in-house

production.

  • High reliability, continuous

production.

  • Fully automatic operation.

SAUDI ARABIA– Extraction from boiler exhaust and liquefaction plant Capacity: 100 MTPD for Pepsi-Cola.

Biogas Upgrading Plants

In the last 11 months, in Italy about 25 Milions mc. Biomethane and about 25,000 tons Food-Grade CO2 has been produced by TPI Upgrading Systems TPI has the experience also for the BIOGAS UPGRADING SOLUTIONS, where CO2 is separated from biogas in order to produce bio-methane. Bio-methane technology by: Membrane or Solvent Technologies Bio-methane applications:

  • Grid Injection
  • CNG
  • LNG
