HIGHLIGHTS
SERVING THE REGION FOR 45 YEARS
Partnered with NH Fish & Game, White Mountains Community College, and the Androscoggin Watershed Council to assess over 1,000 stream road crossings in the Androscoggin River Watershed. Participating in a working group to address the overflow parking issues along I-93 in Franconia Notch State Park and elsewhere across the White Mountain National Forest. Kicked off efforts to develop an updated Regional Transportation Plan.
Collected traffic volume data on state and local roads in collaboration with NHDOT. This year NCC collected data at 160 sites. This year 39 additional counts were requested by communities to support local planning efforts. In Bethlehem, NCC is working with the selectboard to provide information about public parking areas near Main Street. NCC leveraged funding and provided technical assistance to the Town of Littleton for the preparation of a Bicycle and Pedestrian Infrastructure Improvement Plan. NCC is assisting multiple communities with developing road projects to be submitted to the State Ten Year Transportation Plan.
Administration of Pemi-Baker Solid Waste District – this year NCC assisted with 2 Household Hazardous Waste Collections. 237 households participated resulting 4,100 gallons of household waste being disposed
- f properly. In addition 4 miles of florescent bulbs were also collected.
Wrapped up the Coos County Trails Network Project – resulted in a Comprehensive Scope of Work for a Future Trails Plan. The report included recommendations and a planning framework that addresses the needs of the trails in Coos County. NCC provided administration for grants that supported the construction
- f the New Friendship House in Bethlehem and the Water and Sewer
Lines in the Mill Site of Northumberland. NCC is designated by The Northern Borders Regional Commission as the local development district to provide administration services to NBRC grantees.
Community Engagement and Educational Opportunities – planning board training, invasive species workshop, newsletters, outreach and social media posts. Facilitation of community engagement events on creating a community gathering place, revitalizing downtowns, and community asset identification. NCC provided support to communities and organizations in the form of grant writing, project development, meeting facilitation, mapping, and data research to support local planning efforts. Update of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy – CEDS contributes to effective development in the region by engaging community leaders and private sector to establish a strategic blueprint for economic collaboration. The process provides a framework for resilient economic development in the region.
EPA Awarded NCC $300,000 in Brownfield Assessment Funds – to be used to assist in the identification and redevelopment of brownfield sites. Continue to provide and connect communities with resources and services to fully realize their individual unique goals as a part of the larger region. ADG – Arnett Development Group will conduct the SWOT analysis for the CEDS update through assistance from USDA RD Grant.
