  2. I-40/I-240 INTERCHANGE • Project History  Began Phase II plans - August 2006.  Traffic Analysis for Weaving - December 2006.  Traffic Queue analysis at Covington Pike - May 2007  Revised plans - June 2007  Update technical data for I.M.S. - 2008  Project limits extended - October 2011  Complete ROW plans - October 2012  Construction Plans - Underway

  3. Phase I of project. Added flyover WB I-40 (east) to WB I-240. Added portion of ramp from WB I-40 to WB I- 40 (north)

  4. Phase II-A - Complete ramp structure from WB I-40 (east) to WB I-40 (north). Add ramp from EB I-40 (north) to EB I-40 (east).

  5. Phase II-A - Complete ramp structure from WB I-40 (east) to WB I-40 (north). Add ramp from EB I-40 (north) to EB I-40 (east).

  6. Phase II-B (Now Phase III) – Reconstruct interchange to add through lanes from I-40 (north) to I-240.

  7. Phase II-B (Now Phase III) – Repurpose existing roadways to serve as Collector- Distributor (CD) roads for ramps

  8. Level of Service Traffic Analysis – AM and PM peaks – I-40 east & north – I-240 – Covington Pike – Sam Cooper – All associated ramps

  9. Findings for New “Phase II” and “Phase III” Freeway Sections – I-240 WB & EB unsatisfactory (LOS E or F) by 2016 – I-40 WB (east) unsatisfactory by 2015 – Weaving sections okay but marginal – Ramp Junctions have merge/diverge problems in near future
