TREKNORTH SMART reSTART PLAN

• Students/families who do not feel safe coming into the building will be

provided a full-time Remote-Learning option

• TrekNorth will inform its decision based on MDH 14-day data.
• Final decision for learning format will be made on August 27, 2020
• CURRENTLY: TrekNorth is preparing for Hybrid-Learning: No more than 50% of

students will be in the building at any one time

• Students will be divided into two groups that attend school alternate weeks.

FAMILY SURVEY RESULTS

Results represent 169 of our 188 families (90%) on August 1, 2020. Big TakeAways from our Survey:

• Our families prefer Distance Learning or Hybrid Learning at this time
• Safety of students and staff is a priority
• Majority of our families are very uncomfortable sending students back into

building.

• Families are in support of programming that includes physical distancing and

wearing masks.

• 49.1 percent prefer DL
• 29 percent prefer Hybrid Learning
• 21.4 percent prefer In-Person Learning

Family Survey: If TrekNorth Opened Fully in the Fall:

• 64.5 percent of families would opt-in to Distance Learning
• 35.5 percent of families would be in support of full in-person learning

As of July 30, TrekNorth is planning to reopen on September 8 with the HYBRID-LEARNING model. This plan responds to the following:

• MDE Current Guidance
• The safety and well-being of both staff and students
• Our community’s need for access to both in-person learning and distance

learning

• Our families who have students in other schools in the area

TrekNorth’s SMART reSTART Phases to Return to Safe Learning*

Phase 1: Distance Learning (Spring 2020) Phase 2: Distance (Remote) Learning with additional student and family supports

• Academic and Safety Plan created by a team of TrekNorth staff

Phase 3: Hybrid Learning (Distance (Remote) Learning and safe In-Person Learning)*

• Academic and Safety Plan created by a team of TrekNorth staff

Phase 4: Return to In-Person School Learning*

• Safety Plan created by a team of TrekNorth staff

*Distance (Remote) Learning is ALWAYS an option for families during this time.

TrekNorth’s SMART reSTART

Technology:

• All students will have a device
• Students who request hotspots will be able to use those during Distance

(Remote) Learning/ Hybrid Learning

• TrekNorth will be using a common platform: Schoology
• TrekNorth will be updating the current website and launching a TrekNorth app

to simplify communication with families

• TrekNorth will be hosting learning sessions for online platforms for students

and families

Curriculum and Instruction:

• Our plan will include a structured schedule where teachers and students meet

daily

• Lessons will be delivered live and also recorded
• Teachers will oversee a structured work time (in coordination with advisors) for

students to complete assignments

August 3-7: TrekNorth’s Admin and Leadership Teams Finalize TrekNorth’s NEW Hybrid and Remote Learning Plans August 7: TrekNorth Families will receive TrekNorth’s Hybrid and Remote Learning Student and Family Handbook (SMART reSTART Reopening Plan) August 10: TrekNorth hosts an online Q and A session for families August 17: Deadline for families to opt into REMOTE learning August 24-31: TrekNorth families will receive information regarding their student’s learning schedule
