Factors to Consider (adapted from Legal One -FEA)

17

  • Capacity to Meet Health & Safety Standards

○ Access to PPE, Hand Sanitizer, Partitions, etc. ○ Staffing Shortages ○ Cleaning / Disinfecting Demands ○ Educational Effectiveness

  • Needs of At-Risk Student Populations
  • Equity
  • Staff Needs
slide-18
SLIDE 18

“Anticipated Minimum Standards”

Refers to items that school districts should incorporate into reopening plans as DEFINITE components related to health, safety, and operations

slide-19
SLIDE 19

“Considerations”

Refers to components that districts and schools should incorporate into their thinking about reopening, but do not represent necessary components of the plans

Transportation

Mr.Aiman Mahmoud ~ Business Administrator

  • Mrs. Lisa Bennett~ Transportation Supervisor
slide-35
SLIDE 35

35

  • Seat students 1 seat apart - Allows for 11 students per 54 passenger

Pros - Social distancing without masks

Cons - At least 3 to 4 buses for each route. Shortage of drivers/buses already exists.

  • “Soft Shields” between seats - Allows for 22 students per 54 passenger.

Pros: Barrier provides some protection without masks

Cons: Expensive, cleaning thoroughly between routes is not feasible, reduced air ventilation, not enough buses

  • Traditional Opening - Face masks on all students - normal busing

Pros: Economically feasible, routes/drivers/buses already established.

Cons: No social distancing, Students must wear mask the entire time - 2 to 3 students per seat

BUSING OPTIONS

slide-36
SLIDE 36

36

Hybrid Schedule - split schedule both in school and virtual Pros: Less students per bus, routes do not change, same stops Cons: May require slight re-routing once schedule is established Other considerations: Non-negotiables - Contractors routes - cannot change schools/times on bid routes Lowering Student Numbers - Parents may waive transportation using a state form which will assist in lowering numbers

BUSING OPTIONS

slide-37
SLIDE 37

37

  • Health check log to be filled out each day by driver and aide
  • “Soft- shield” around driver’s compartment to protect driver
  • Driver is not mandated to wear mask while driving. Could be a hazard.
  • Aides will wear a mask at all times and a face shield when in close

contact with students.

  • All students will be required to wear a mask the entire time on the bus

and will load from the back forward and unload from the front to back.

  • Open windows to encourage ventilation, except during inclement

weather

Safety of Drivers/Aides/Students

slide-38
SLIDE 38

38

  • Seats and restraint equipment will be wiped down throughout the day when

time permits with an all purpose cleaner

  • Disinfecting after morning and afternoon routes by trained mechanic. BOE

will use electrostatic sprayers to disinfect

  • Enforcing contractors will be hard to accomplish
