Help Us by Volunteering

  • We are operating in conjunction with the

Summer Feed Program which is being funded by King George County Schools this summer.

  • King George Summer Feed provides free

breakfasts and lunches to youth 18 and under at KGHS and KGES Monday – Friday each week.

  • KG Summer Feed funds will be used to provide

most of our required food items. As a result, we need volunteers rather than cash donations!

slide-13
SLIDE 13

Volunteer Needs are Great

  • In 2015 we began delivering lunches 3 days

per week (vs. 2 days), which required additional volunteers

  • The need increased from 60 to 90 volunteer

days per week

  • The community stepped up to the challenge

and our volunteer base expanded

  • We need continued support at this level from
  • ur volunteers this summer

Testimony: Feeding the needy

As a volunteer driver, I am always struck by the need that we witness within the shadows of the Dahlgren base where thousands are so fortunate to have such good incomes. The children along our stops are truly in need and have been so appreciative of our simple bag

  • lunches. They really touch your heart.
  • Margie
slide-16
SLIDE 16

Testimony: I never knew

Most of us volunteers had NO IDEA that such poverty as we see every time we drive a route existed in King George until we'd gone out and seen it ourselves. You can't be selfish while serving with Lunch Bunch - once you've seen what's really out there, living for yourself just isn't an

  • ption any more."
  • Marynn
slide-17
SLIDE 17

Testimony: And books too

They are so happy that they get to keep the

  • books. Some of them get so

excited about the books, we have to remind them to get their lunch. We've been abundantly blessed with the book donations from churches and the

  • community. To God be the

glory!
