Story time

Go for a walk

Model spatial concepts:" jump over", "go behind the tree", "walk in front", "go under the tree"

Ride a scooter or bike, pull a wagon, walk a dog

Discuss what you are seeing and greet people Scavenger Hunt

Play " I Spy"- Have your child find vocabulary in the environment. (ex. Find something that smells nice, find something green, find something you can play with.)

Collect rocks or leaves and then compare them to each other Balls

Play catch and have your child imitate verbs with the action like "Throw, "Catch, and "Roll."

Practice turn taking while kick balls in a group or passing a ball around a circle

Tap beach balls to each other or jump with them in between your legs Fly a kite while on a picnic

More Outside Fun:

Bubbles

Have child request that you blow the bubbles or that they want a turn with the bubbles.

Model vocabulary and actions, and then have them imitate you. "Pop the bubbles! Pop pop pop!" Side Walk Chalk

Have child draw pictures, shapes, letters or numbers

Draw on sidewalks and vertical surfaces such as wood fences

Use a spray bottles to wash off

Talk about the color chalk and/or what the child drew; talk about concepts (ex: big, little, etc. )

Mealtimes

Try a variety of foods and eating them with different type of utensils ( cocktail fork, ice cream spoon, chop sticks, using a fork and knife)

Requesting food items, comparing/contrasting foods, describing foods. "The apple and banana are both fruit, but the apple is crunchy and the banana is soft."

Have your child talk about what meal of the day it is and discuss other foods you can eat for those meals. "Today we're having cereal for breakfast. Let's name some more breakfast foods!"
