One of the most beautiful Renaissance Cities in Central Italy
Urbino: Marche region
SLIDE 24 Urbino, a Renaissance City for the contemporary student
Protected by its walls, the ancient city
- f Urbino is perched high on a ridge
between the Metauro and Foglia
- valleys. It is surrounded by green hills
that bear the landscape features left by inhabitants of centuries past.
SLIDE 25 Ideal place to study Italian
Despite being a jewel of Italian Renaissance art and architecture, Urbino is not overrun by tourists – not even in summer. This makes it an ideal place to meet the locals, hang
- ut, and experience la vita italiana.
SLIDE 26 Helpful Hints:
- 1. Taking the train from Rome to Urbino
can be much too complicated (3 different trains + I bus!). You can take a direct bus that leaves from the Tiburtina station in Rome, three times a day.
- 2. Find out before you get to Urbino where
your dorm is (it will be outside the city walls, off the via dei Cappuccini). The Lingua ideale Summer Program website will have a map).
SLIDE 27 Return to Rome (or other place
Make sure that you allow enough time to make your return flight. The night the program ends there is a final get- together that students will want to attend, so ensure that your flight (from Bologna, Rome, Venice…) does not leave to early the next day. Give yourself enough time to get to the airport for your flight!
