Select any two words…

slide-42
SLIDE 42
  • By combining words together

we’d like you to sketch/illustrate a costume for a character to wear

  • The costume should reflect

both words from your own perspective

  • For example - what comes to

mind when you think of the words Futuristic & Floral ?

slide-43

  • Don’t worry if you’re

not great a drawing figures, we’ve attached some templates for you to use

These images were visual research for a script called ‘The Small Garden’ A story is set in a rather neglected Victorian house Scenes take place in the Hallway, Kitchen and Study: assume the study is one of the principle ground floor rooms

slide-47
SLIDE 47

Once locations are found, designers have to decide how the spaces (sets) should be dressed (furnished) These photos are further visual research

slide-48
SLIDE 48

Draw a plan of the Study

  • My plan represents a principle ground floor room

in a Victorian (1837 -1901) house, built probably around 1895

  • If you have it, use grid (graph) paper - keep

proportions constant so everything looks the same scale (in proportion)

  • Draw items of furniture on the plan
  • It may be a good idea to draw items on a separate

sheet and cut them out so you can move items around

  • Imagine the house has been neglected for around

20 years… so it’s quite shabby
