Step 6 •The Conduct Officer will email the outcome/sanction letter to the student documenting the sanction(s).
A student has 48 hours from receipt of the letter to appeal the decision in writing to the Dean of Students or Vice President of Student Affairs, depending on who heard the original hearing.
✓ (a) The conduct process was not in accord with the rules and regulations governing the College’s conduct process, and this deprivation materially affected the decision
✓ (b) The finding(s) of the violation(s) is contradicted by new evidence that was not available at the time of the conduct meeting.

When a student violates a policy the goal of the conduct process is to (a) hold the student accountable for their actions and (b) help educate the student so further incidents do not

Will my parents/guardians be notified if I am involved in an incident?
Parents/Guardians will be notified if student is under 21 years old and found responsible for violation of the alcohol/drug policy. Parents/Guardians will be notified if student is being suspended and/or expelled from the institution. If the student health or safety is at risk.
As a parent/guardian, how can I help my student in the student conduct process?
You can help guide the student through the process Be supportive of the student while holding the student accountable to the College’s expectations
How is this process different from a criminal process?
A student may be arrested and charged for a crime AND required to go through the College’s conduct process . The standard used at a college is different from a criminal justice proceedings. The College’s conduct process runs separately and often concurrently to any process the law requires.
Will my conduct history affect me applying to graduate/law/medical school or a job (on/off campus)?
Many graduate, medical and law schools request information about a student’s disciplinary history. The College will provide disciplinary history for any students who are sanctioned with disciplinary probation, suspension and/or expulsion.
Will my coach be informed of an incident the student is involved in?
Coaches will be informed once the student has gone through the conduct process. If student is found responsible, then a staff member in Athletics will be informed. The Athletics department has their own conduct process.
Can I withdraw from the College in order to resolve this?
If student withdraws from the College, the disciplinary process will continue. There may be a “hold” placed on the student’s account until the process is completed.
