  • Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) seems to be associated with an enhanced risk of severe COVID-

19 infection.

  • Henry BM, Lippi G. Chronic kidney disease is associated with severed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVD-

  • Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) occurs frequently among patients with COVID-19. It is strongly linked to the
  • ccurrence of respiratory failure and is rarely a severe disease among patients who do not require

ventilation.

  • 1,993 (36.6%) of 5,449 adult patients (median age 64 yrs) hospitalized with COVID-19 from March 1,

2020 to April 5, 2020 in a large New York Health System (13 hospitals) developed AKI during their hospitalization.
