  8. 33. What was the most valuable part of participating in the PDS this year? ● “Professional development. Benefits to students and our classroom community” ● “How much my students benefit from having an intern in the Annual classroom” Mentor ● “Embedded professional development” Survey ● “The impact my students felt by having an intern.” Feedback “Building relationships and helping students, interns, and ● mentors grow together.”

  9. Former PDA Quotes “My three years teaching math methods as a PDA helped me to learn more about the theoretical side of teaching K-6 mathematics. Because of that, I was able to improve my own practice and find new ways to teach students how to communicate their mathematical understanding.” “ As a PDA, I was not a principal – but I evaluated and supervised,.. I was not a classroom teacher but I was teaching about teaching,… I was not a counselor, but I found myself advising and comforting, … and I was not a PSU professor, but I taught PSU students college courses.” “As a classroom teacher, there is little time to create, reflect, question, and think. When I was a PDA, I was able to look critically at my teaching practice, evaluate my beliefs, and take time to truly align them, for the benefit of my students.” “I learned that teaching adults and teaching students is remarkably similar. I am a teacher leader now, rather than a teacher who watches others lead.” “This experience allowed me to gain knowledge about teaching, learning, and students in multiple ways. First, I was given the opportunity to watch others teach which gave me the time to think more deeply about teaching. Second, helping interns walk through the complexity of teaching enabled me to explore different ways of teaching, as well as study curriculum more thoroughly.”

  18. Parent Comments I think this is a wonderful program. Our daughter felt like there was a second teacher in the classroom. There is no doubt that it was a positive experience for our child. Annual Parent We are so lucky to have this program with Penn State at our elementary school. Each Survey experience we've had is heart-warming! Thank you to Penn State and SCASD for Feedback making this opportunity possible for future teachers and our children. I always am excited when my child's classroom has an intern. My child enjoys it and always develops a strong relationship. It's an asset to SCASD.
