Neither test is EASIER Every college will accept either test. You don’t need to take both. The best way to decide which test to take is to take a practice test for both and see how you do.

ACT SAT

Hard to finish on time. Not as much of a time crunch. Has Science. In line with “common core” Claims it doesn’t have science. Straightforward Reading Focus on History and Social Studies. Passages are more dense. Couplet questions. Math is straightforward but challenging. Covers a large range of topics. Questions at the end are very hard. Timing More mental math. Section with no calculator. Not as wide a range of topics. Grid in questions Composite is an average. Reading and English are comingled.

The Prep

  • No matter which test, it is all about preparing.
  • Standardized test-taking is a skill-it has to be learned and
  • practiced. (my most common tutoring student)
  • Neither of them is a school test.
  • You have to learn your lines before you can perform. (or

sports if that’s your thing).
