- An interactive learning cube has been designed. It will help children
learn about the technologies used in the programme and promote science and engineering subjects.
- The latest project update was sent out within the last fortnight. You can
read it online or join our mailing list by registering on our website.
- We use social media to get the word out. Look out for #fibrewaycode
and fibre flashback on twitter. Retweets greatly appreciated!
Communications
- We have a new mascot! Introducing the Fibre Fox.
- A ‘name the fibre fox’ competition will be launched shortly.
Please feel free to send us your suggestions
- Content can be provided for your parish council website,
newsletter or facebook page to promote superfast broadband availability.
- Why is all this important? Take-up! The better the take-up
the more money we get back to reinvest in broadband.
Universal Service Obligation
- The right to demand access to 10Mbps minimum
- Government and Ofcom consultations now closed

a) Mandatory scheme b) Voluntary offer

– called the UBC (universal broadband coverage), will cost £450m to £600m funded by increasing wholesale prices – The UBC would see 98.5% of homes and businesses connected to a fixed broadband by 2020 and 99 per cent by 2022. – Remaining properties would be connected via a fixed-wireless network or satellite. – Previously announced plans to develop long-range VDSL networks, which speed up copper lines, have been put on hold

Blaby Extensive Commercial coverage from multiple operators. Two cabinets delivered (Western Drive and the Industrial Park) Burton & Dalby Some commercial coverage from Buckminster Broadband. Three cabinets planned and being built; Melton Mowbray 45,46 & 47 all serving Great Dalby. Work not yet underway. Charley All in one cabinet planned. Abbey Road. Work not yet underway. Alternative solutions required from properties to south of parish.
East Langton Some commercial coverage from Gigaclear. Two cabinets delivered; Main Street, Church Langton and Main Street East, Langton. Ellistown & Battleflat Significant commercial coverage from multiple operators. One cabinet delivered; Ibstock Road, Ellistown (FTTC) Great Easton Extensive commercial coverage from HERBS Broadband. One cabinet delivered; Caldecott Road, Great Easton in Phase 1.
Houghton on the Hill Extensive commercial coverage from BT. Husbands Bosworth Two cabinets delivered on Bell Lane and The Green, Husbands Bosworth. Phase 1
