Phase 1 Update On Time £2.5m efficiency saving Achieved through BT delivery optimization and Council robust assurance and project Under Delivering management THP Budget Over 200 miles of new fibre currently 235 towns and villages have rolled out gained access to fibre broadband thanks to Superfast Leicestershire. 71 exchange areas now live This increases superfast coverage 307 fibre cabinets enabled from 81% to 92%, and we remain on target to reach 96% by the end 65,000 additional Leicestershire of 2017 homes and businesses are now able to connect to fibre broadband

Phase 2 Update  All survey work is now complete  Over 150 cabinets are live and receiving orders - serving more than 8,500 premises  First FTTP areas will go live in coming weeks  Coming soon : Aston Flamville, Barton in the Beans, Castle Donington, Illston on the Hill, Keyham, Kings Norton, Market Bosworth, Ratcliffe Culey, Shepshed, Skeffington, Stapleton, Sutton Cheney, Swepstone, Thorpe Satchville, Tur Langton, Wistow & Woodhouse Eaves

Better Broadband Scheme Wireless signal Fibre Cable Backhaul Satellite signal Network Internet Operations backbone Centre  ‘Government has made a commitment to provide every home and business in the UK with access to a basic broadband service ’  13 Satellite / 5 Wireless providers / Now includes 4G  120 applications - 70 issued  13 applicants have taken out a service  Majority of applications have been residential – Scheme more suited to residential customers

  9. Communications General  An interactive learning cube has been designed. It will help children learn about the technologies used in the programme and promote science and engineering subjects.  The latest project update was sent out within the last fortnight. You can read it online or join our mailing list by registering on our website.  We use social media to get the word out. Look out for #fibrewaycode and fibre flashback on twitter. Retweets greatly appreciated!  We have a new mascot! Introducing the Fibre Fox.  A ‘name the fibre fox’ competition will be launched shortly. Please feel free to send us your suggestions  Content can be provided for your parish council website, newsletter or facebook page to promote superfast broadband availability.  Why is all this important? Take-up! The better the take-up the more money we get back to reinvest in broadband.

  10. Universal Service Obligation  The right to demand access to 10Mbps minimum  Government and Ofcom consultations now closed  Two options under review: a) Mandatory scheme b) Voluntary offer • Friday 6 October – Openreach published details of voluntary offer: – called the UBC (universal broadband coverage), will cost £450m to £600m funded by increasing wholesale prices – The UBC would see 98.5% of homes and businesses connected to a fixed broadband by 2020 and 99 per cent by 2022. – Remaining properties would be connected via a fixed-wireless network or satellite. – Previously announced plans to develop long-range VDSL networks, which speed up copper lines, have been put on hold

  11. Parish Updates Blaby Extensive Commercial coverage from multiple operators. Two cabinets delivered (Western Drive and the Industrial Park) Burton & Dalby Some commercial coverage from Buckminster Broadband. Three cabinets planned and being built; Melton Mowbray 45,46 & 47 all serving Great Dalby. Work not yet underway. Charley All in one cabinet planned. Abbey Road. Work not yet underway. Alternative solutions required from properties to south of parish.

  12. East Langton Some commercial coverage from Gigaclear. Two cabinets delivered; Main Street, Church Langton and Main Street East, Langton. Ellistown & Battleflat Significant commercial coverage from multiple operators. One cabinet delivered; Ibstock Road, Ellistown (FTTC) Great Easton Extensive commercial coverage from HERBS Broadband. One cabinet delivered; Caldecott Road, Great Easton in Phase 1.

  13. Houghton on the Hill Extensive commercial coverage from BT. Husbands Bosworth Two cabinets delivered on Bell Lane and The Green, Husbands Bosworth. Phase 1
