Water Supply to Millarville

  • MD has current water license on a Coulee Tributary to Three

Point Creek for Millarville

  • AEP is currently reviewing MD’s Water Act applications
  • Waterline from Turner Valley to Millarville has been completed
  • MD is proposing to truck untreated water from Millarville to

SRRUC Raw Water Reservoir in Turner Valley on interim basis, pending AEP approval to change “point of use”

  • SRRUC could treat MD’s raw water, and then return potable

water through the new water main to Millarville

  • Once Water Act Approval is complete, MD’s raw water will be

diverted from the Sheep River through SRRUC’s new Direct Intake facility and pumped to Millarville

Current Project Details

Direct Intake on the Sheep River:

  • Is supplemental (Mar-Nov) to the groundwater wells
  • Includes a floating Riverscreen™ intake
  • Pumped through trailer-mounted centrifugal irrigation pump

for easy removal from flood plain if and as required

  • Pump is capable of 1,200 usgpm (±75L/s)
  • Water Licenses have been assigned by transfers from

Black Diamond Wells no. 2 & 3 and Turner Valley Well no. 2 & 3

Provisional Capacity Overview

(2016 population of TV and BD combined was 5,259)

Component Capacity at 410 L/c/d * Capacity at 350 L/c/d ** Water Licenses (combined) 9,819 people 11,502 people Raw Water Supply (total before Direct Intake system is implemented) 4,878 people 5,714 people Raw Water Supply (total with Direct Intake system) 12,780 people *** 14,970 people *** Water Treatment Plant 8,902 people 10,428 people

11/29/2018

*All SRRUC system design was based on average water demand (ADD) of 410 Litres/capita/day ** Actual average water use for SRRUC in 2017 was 350 L/c/d *** capacity exceeds current Water Licenses, and maximum cannot be implemented until additional Water License is secured; also dependent on Provincial IO restrictions
